SAMBA TREKS

CLIMB KILIMANJARO
Book  Now

Summit the Tallest Mountain in Africa

At 19,341 ft., Mt. Kilimanjaro is the tallest mountain in Africa, the highest free standing mountain in the world, and one of the Seven Summits (the tallest mountains on each of the seven continents).  Climbing Kilimanjaro is quite a challenge, but the staff at Samba Treks is committed to making this a reality for you.

What makes Samba Treks stand out from all the other Kilimanjaro Trekking companies? We provide our climbers a safe and first-class Kilimanjaro climbing experience, but we also keep our prices low and offer the best porter working conditions on the mountain.

How is this possible?  Because we are a social enterprise, and the welfare of our Kilimanjaro porters is more important to us than our profit.  We only add a small booking fee to cover our costs. Of course, as a Kilimanjaro climbing company, our primary mission is to safely guide you to the breathtaking summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro.

As you climb Kilimanjaro, the highest point in Africa, you will enjoy a genuine cultural experience, beginning on the first day, when you will meet every porter. When you arrive at camp at the end of each challenging day, your assembled tent will be waiting for you, along with hot tea and a snack.

Each night, after you have climbed a little closer to the breathtaking Kilimanjaro summit, your team will gather in the dining tent to share a gourmet meal with your Kilimanjaro guide, as he briefs you about the next day's trek.

By booking your Kilimanjaro trek with us, you will not only experience a luxury climb to the summit of the highest free-standing mountain in the world,  you will also feel good knowing that you have contributed to the well-being of your Kilimanjaro porters. Climb with Samba Treks and set a new standard with us.

When you climb Kilimanjaro with Samba Treks, you contribute to the welfare of these special porters. We strive to promote porter welfare, set the example on Kilimanjaro for fair wages, and employ local Tanzanians who depend upon these treks to support their families.
Climb Kilimanjaro, A view of Kilimanjaro's summit, from Barafu Camp, Kilimanjaro's base camp.
A view of Uhuru Peak from Barafu Huts, the camp from which you will make your Kilimanjaro summit attempt. If you visit Barafu Huts as you climb Mt. Kilimanjaro, you have reached an altitude of 4662 meters. Barafu translates to "ice" in Swahili. As you can see here, it offers a great view of what lies ahead for you as you prepare to reach the summit! If you weren't anxious and excited already, you will be as you take in this view!
"Truly provided us with unique and life changing experiences, all the while ensuring porter welfare and impacting the Moshi community at large. Our climb would not have been the same without our incredible team, and we genuinely owe our summit to our passionate and encouraging guides, Charles and Rashid."

Private Treks at Group Prices

Every Kilimanjaro trek is quite a production. Each group is accompanied by a head guide, assistant guides, a cook, and at least three porters for each climber. For a group of 20 people, that would be over 80 people ascending the mountain! We want our climbers to enjoy every minute that they are on the mountain. We encourage them to interact with their porters and even eat a couple of meals with them. For this reason, we limit our groups to six people, and we offer private treks at group rates. A private Kilimanjaro trek gives you the freedom to choose your own date, route, and pace. If you are having a hard time acclimatizing, you have the flexibility to add another day -- an option not available to you if you are traveling with a group.  A private Kilimanjaro trek also gives you the opportunity to build relationships with your Tanzanian staff.

"Kilimanjaro is a snow-covered mountain 19,710 feet high and is said to be the highest mountain in Africa. Its western summit is called the Masai 'Ngaje Ngai,' the House of God. Close to the western summit there is the dried and frozen carcass of a leopard. No one has explained what the leopard was seeking at that altitude. "
