Samba Treks is a premier Kilimanjaro climbing company, but it stands out from the other Kilimanjaro tour operators because it is a social enterprise, meaning purpose comes before profit.  Our mission is to empower local Tanzanians by creating high wage job opportunities and to set a new example for porter welfare on Kilimanjaro. Every Kilimanjaro trek fulfills this mission, and sustains our business. We hope that you will partner with us to create social change as you summit the highest mountain in Africa or embark on a safari with us.

 What defines a social enterprise?

• It is a non-loss, non-dividend company dedicated entirely to achieving a social goal. All profit, or “surplus revenue,” is channeled back into the company for expansion and improvement.
  
  
•  It is a business where an investor aims to help others without taking any financial gain himself, while generating enough income to cover costs. 
  
  

     When you climb Kilimanjaro with Samba Treks, you can be assured that all profits go back into the company to employ more local Tanzanians and improve equipment and working conditions for the porters.  In addition, we have partnered with Nkoaranga Orphanage and the Stella Maris Primary School. Each time one of their volunteers climbs Kilimanjaro with us, we sponsor one of their children.
